We had a house full of sick last week, I was really wanting to get the kids out of the house and have some fun for spring break. The weather hasn't cooperated with that very much, while we have been having fun, it just hasn't been the pretty weather I was hoping for.
Oh well, what can you do? - update the dining room to add some pretty spring to it! :)
I picked up new chairs for the end of the table, I had been imagining big chairs on the end and benches on either side and I was very excited to find these chairs (from At Home). They are not super practical with kids that spill, so most of the time they will sit against the wall, I added the wreaths above them, (The benches are on the to do list, some day, for now there are too many other things in front of them.)
I also painted my tangerine-y orange chairs. The orange was a lot of fun, but ever since we got the new table finished, I have not loved them with the table. The orange is a bit overwhelming with my table and I wanted the table to stand out, not the chairs. I love the antique look I gave these chairs. I painted them off white, then did a paint wash with 50% water and 50% brown paint, I painted it on and wiped it off again (working in small sections in order to not leave too much paint behind). A little sanding after it dried and we are good to go! What do you think of my updated dining area?
I made a quick table runner with some fabric I picked up from JoAnne Fabrics. The green was the prefect spring shade and of course the flowers on it said "SPRING"!
I had fun finishing it up this week . With the drearier weather it is nice to add a pretty spring touch to my house (it's the girly-iest spot in the house and my husband doesn't seem to mind!)
