I am so excited! I finally "finished" our play room! I say finished like that, because, lets be honest it will probably change, but that's the fun part of decorating! And I am still in search of something big and fun for the empty wall - I have some ideas in my mind and want something old, so finding it is the hard part! :)
I wanted a space in our home for the kids to just be kids, you know the "wild & free" type of kids! :) I love that we have this space right off the kids' bedrooms and upstairs, we have an open railing so I can see them and hear them (not always a good thing) from the main floor. They have a space that they can go and pull out every toy they want and I can keep the main floor less of a toy mess (although as I write this, there is a pile of legos on the kitchen table).
We are the mean parents that did not add any tv hook up options in the kids' rooms (but at the rate technology is changing tv will probably be completely wireless by the time we have teenagers). We did; however, put a small tv with a dvd player in the playroom. It's a fun spot to do family movie nights, hence the couch in the playroom.
I got this beautiful buffet and had no where that it would work on the main floor, but it fit perfectly under the tv upstairs. I did not want the tv to be the main focus of the wall. so around the tv I added fun shelves (from Target), the arrows were the perfect color (from Hobby Lobby), I got each of the kids their initial (from Hobby Lobby) and I made the rhino heads - a boy and a girl, one for each kid (I just thought they would be fun)!
I bought the couch from a friend. She already had the cover on it, which is perfect since it is a kids' area and I knew it wouldn't stay clean. I want to get a new cover, I'm thinking yellow or green, but haven't found the right one yet. The sign was one I made when I was pregnant with my baby girl - both kids were going to be in 1 room, so I needed something that worked with my very boy room decor that was a little girlier and I still love this sign.
There you have it, our playroom! Plenty of room for the whole family to spread out and play or watch movies (not on the couch, haha!). This is exactly what I wanted for this room!
I hope that you liked this room too!
